Discovery Playground

Yesterday was the grand opening of the new Discovery Playground located in the Spokane Valley (Mirabeau Park). I took Garrett to see it while Gavin was in preschool, but once Gavin found out he was pretty upset. So we headed back out there today so Gavin and Garrett could enjoy the new playground together. It's geared toward the educational aspects of nature and many other cool ideas.
Rainbow colors!

Great big bugs and flowers.

An over sized chair is always fun for a picture.

It's a frog!
Peek-a-boo I see you through the pumpkin.

Such great new flowers and so many things to look at.

Gavin as a frog, how cute is that.
Garrett as a bear........just look at that smile, they both were having so much fun.

A built in trampoline, how cool is that.

Gavin climbing up the rock slide.

Some fun big bucket swings.

Hand prints and paw prints. They were checking to see if their hands fit.

So much to see so little time.

Dinosaur Eggs.

This seat was really crazy, you could get spinning pretty fast.....Gavin loved it. And of course little brother is there to lend a hand/push.

Wo mom I'm kind of dizzy!!

A fun rope climbing area.

Gavin and his Spider Hat

Gavin came home from preschool today with this silly spider hat, and when he walks the little spider legs move in the wind soooooo cute!! His teacher asked him when I was putting him in the car "now Gavin how many legs do spider's have?" Gavin proudly says "eight"! He has done so well in preschool, now we are ready for a little summer time. Gavin will be tested for a Pre-K program through the East Valley school district at the end of this month, and we may not know if he's in until Sept, Yikes! But for now we are thinking of all the fun summer activities to come.
Crazy kid!

Garrett always trying to get in the picture.

BLOOMSDAY 2010!!!!!!

We did it!!! My good friend Lisa and I decided to do Bloomsday this year together. Lisa has done over 15years worth of races........and this was my first time! Yeah, can you believe it, I've lived in Spokane my whole life and I've never done Bloomsday. Well this past year or so I've been working hard on being a fit and active person and keeping up with my goals. We had a blast, walked a little over 7 miles in about 2hours 20minutes. We'll see if I'll do it next year, probably. We bought some bus passes when we picked up our packets with our running numbers. We headed out about 7:30am and hopped the bus at the Valley Mall and they dropped us off a few blocks from the race line. And when the race was over we walked a few blocks to get back on the bus and head home. Of course we got ourselves a nice hot coffee.....it was getting cold and a little rainy by then. And we chowed down (at least I did) a nice yummy Pita at Pita Pit for lunch. Thanks again Lisa!!!
Waiting to get started, they have a tradition of throwing around beach balls to keep the crowd awake and energized, lots of fun.

So if you notice my T-shirt it's kind of a weird green, well we got this from Joe's work. They give free T-shirts to the employees and you can order extras for your family for $5 each. Watch later to see what this years 2010 Bloomsday Finisher T-shirts look like.

The tree's of shirts and jackets. Never knew that people throw their clothes in the trees and after the race is over all the cloths get donated.

A cute mom and daughter couple......and notice the back of the black t-shirt to the right of them. It says regretting the Taco Bell I had last night. Funny!!!!

What was this guy thinking, I could barely handle the weight of my little purse I brought to carry my camera and snacks.

Lisa looking cool, getting close to about half way through.

Here comes doomsday hill, crazy view.....and knowing "you" soon have to climb it.

Margo & Mickey Mouse, picture for my boys who love him.

Ironman even made a appearance, my boys are very into the Ironman right now.

These guys were so cool, I don't know if they are from the Star Wars concert group, but their costumes were awesome......and a little scary at the same time. May the force be with you on your Bloomsday journey.

Yes, yes these are a few teenage boys in woman's clothing.........are very own cross dressers. Funny!!

We can see the finish line, can't believe how quick it went.

We are Bloomsday 2010 Finisher's! And notice the color of the T-shirts........I'm wondering if someone knew at Joe's work?? Very strange. Lisa and I had so much fun and we were exercising at the same time. Thanks so much Lisa for making my first time great!!!!!

Visit to Grandma & Grandpa's

Joe took the boys to Grandpa & Grandma's house for a little visit while I did Bloomsday. They had a blast looking at all the animals they have on their property.....cows & chickens. Garrett has never been out to Joe's parents place, and it's been years since Gavin was out there.
Grandpa in his element, he really enjoys the outdoors.

Time to try out the tractor, Grandpa even started it and let Gavin pretend like he was driving.

Garrett not getting too close to the crazy looking animals.

Grandma taking a look.

Oh how cute, Grandma & Gavin posing great for a picture. This is rare for Grandma Keeney to smile and pose for a picture.

Hugs before Grandpa heads to work.

And more hugs from Grandma when it was time to leave.

May 1st Plants

My Mommy & Me group had a fun playdate this morning, plant a plant for May day/Mother's Day. Gavin came down with a fever last night, so it was a Mommy and Garrett day. Garrett had fun, it was pretty rainy but we were in a garage and stayed dry. Cindy (the lady who put the playdate on) said it was her husbands idea and that he put together all the plants and dirt. How great is that!
Garrett didn't want to touch the dirt part of the plant, so he held the top and put it in the dirt while I packed it in.

This is ours......we added one more yellow flower to this as well.

This is our friend Heather's & her daughter Jordyn's pot.

Cindy out watering the plants in the rain, wanting them to get nice and soaking from transferring plants.

Garrett started saying after awhile, "lets go home Mommy". Too cold and rainy I guess.
